Holistic Beauty

What has beauty got to do with holistic health? You might ask. It is a fair question, but essentially, beauty serves as the foundation for our health, our inner feelings, outward expression, self-esteem and our overall sense of well-being. Essentially, beauty is the message you send to others about your health. If you feel beautiful (whatever that means to you), you feel healthy and are likely to stay healthier for longer.
On this page you will find information on Solihull Holistic Health’s new beauty treatments:

FAQs Re Eyelash Extensions

How are the Eyelash Extension Treatments Done?
You will begin with a consultation with Chloe, to establish the type of look you wish to achieve. At this initial appointment, Chloe will also conduct a patch test, to check for any allergies that might affect your treatment. This will be followed by an appointment to apply the eyelash extensions, which will be done at the treatment room at Solihull Holistic Health in Olton. You will lie on a comfortable treatment couch and then all you need to do is relax, as the therapist applies the eyelash extensions one by one. The whole process takes between 75 and 120 minutes, depending upon the number of eyelash extensions you have applied.

Can I still wear make-up?
Yes. You can wear make-up when you wear eyelash extensions, but it is important to use an oil-free make-up remover, as oil will damage the bonding agent.

Can I take a shower or swim whilst wearing eyelash extensions?
It is best to avoid direct contact with water for the first twenty four hours after having your eyelash extensions applied. After this time period, though it is fine to shower or swim, as the bonding agent will be fully waterproof.

How long will the eyelash extensions last?
If you follow the after-care advice the extensions typically last around six to eight weeks.

How Many Extensions Are Applied?
Depending upon the size and shape of your eyes and the type of look you want to achieve, it could be anywhere between 50 and 150 extentions

Facial Reflexology - The Natural Face-Lift

*NEW* Health & Beauty. Facial Reflexology Eyes (Large)

Facial reflexology has all of the benefits of foot reflexology to your health and wellbeing, with the added benefit of leaving the complexion with a radiant glow, as well as leaving the skin appearing tighter and smoother over a course of treatments. Facial reflexology is considered a natural alternative to Botox.

• Similar health benefits to foot reflexology, ie rebalances the whole body's energy and vitality
• Deeply relaxing
• A ‘mini face-lift'
• Leaves the face looking and feeling younger
• Smoothes and tones skin
• Encourages ellimination of toxins
• Promotes lymphatic drainage

This treatment is not only deeply relaxing but can also help reduce stress, tension, anxiety as well as help with migraines, sinus problems, IBS, joint pain, insomnia, and can help relax you if you are trying to conceive. The face's proximity to the brain is key to the effectiveness of manipulating facial reflex points which directly connect to the body's neuro-pathways. Facial reflexology stimulates the body’s healing mechanisms and encourages the body to eliminate toxins. It is a wonderful therapy to help identify reflexes out of balance and works on a physical, emotional and spiritual level, helping you to feel rebalanced and rejuvenated. Clients have reported looking and feeling better, younger and less stressed after a course of Facial Reflexology.

TESTIMONIAL: "Beautiful treatment. Deeply relaxing and a wonderful combination of gentle massage, aroma from the oil and warmth from the hands. It all makes it very hard not to fall asleep! Highly recommended if you want to drift off and let the magic of the treatment work." (Vicky, Birmingham)

A course of 4-6 treatments is recommended for noticeable improvements and long-term benefits. Facial reflexology is considered a natural alternative to Botox and many people, including many well-known celebrities, are turning to this as their treatment of choice.

*NEW* Health & Beauty. IHM Tina Hair

Indian Head & Hair Massage

If you are familiar with the traditional Indian Head Massage treatment, you will know that it is an extremely pleasant and highly therapeutic treatment, that can benefit your health on a number of levels (see the Indian Head Massage page for more detail).

Indian Head/Hair Massage is a variation of this popular therapy, with added emphasis on the hair and scalp. This treatment has been developed by Rob Buckle in response to the needs and requests of clients that have come to Solihull Holistic Health for the Indian Head Massage treatment.
As most of us will be aware, hair is an important part of our identity and, in my experience, more so for women. In particular, women have requested focused massage for the hair and scalp, to stimulate hair growth, which could be due to hair-loss (alopecia), to strengthen/thicken hair or merely to be able to grow their hair longer. The head/hair massage is particularly good for this.

• The massage strokes help stimulates blood flow to the follicles to loosen the area up, which delivers the nourishing nutrients that are needed to encourage healthy hair growth and to promote strong and shiny hair.
• Dead skin cells are removed during the scalp massage, stimulating the regeneration process
• The added nourishment and oxygen to the scalp and hair follicles stimulates hair growth.

Essential Oils

The Indian Head & Hair Massage can be done with or without oils, depending on your personal needs and preferences. If your primary goal is to improve hair health or hair growth, then I recommend certain essential oils. I use only high quality, organic essential oils. Not only do these smell beautiful and have numerous therapeutic benefits, they are particularly renown for the benefits that they bring to hair quality and growth. The oils that I recommend for hair care are as follows:

Rosemary – for thickness and growth of hair, due to its ability to improve cellular generation
Lavender – can improve hair growth speed and scalp health
Peppermint – increases circulation to improve hair growth
Cedarwood - Helps reduce hair loss by balancing the oil-producing glands in the scalp. Has antifungal and antibacterial properties, which helps with dandruff and hair loss.
Coconut Oil or Almond Oil are generally used as a base for the main essential oils, as these too have qualities that promote hair health and growth.
