FAQs. Dene Court Rd

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the treatments done?

Treatments are usually done at my home in Olton, Solihull, where I have a dedicated treatment room that is separated from the rest of the house and has beautiful garden and sky views.

Address: 34 Dene Court Road, Olton, Solihull, B92 8DL

Or, if travelling to my home is not possible, treatments can be done in the comfort of your own home if you are local to Solihull or South Birmingham, for an extra £5-10 per treatment (depending on distance to travel) to cover additional time and travel expenses incurred.

How early should I arrive before my appointment?

It is best to arrive as close to your appointment time as possible, as I may have other clients booked in either side of your appointment. The treatment room needs to be fully prepared for each client prior to the treatment, so if clients arrive more than a few minutes before the appointment time I may not be ready and there may be no one around to let you in!

Where can I park?

Dene Court Road is a relatively quiet street, so parking is usual possible right outside or very close to the property. If the drive is free, there is usually space for one car for a few hours before 4pm each day.

What are your opening hours?

Monday - Thursday 9am - 7.30pm
Friday - 9am - 5.30pm
Saturday - 10am - 4pm

Is Solihull Holistic Health a large centre?

No. Solihull Holistic Health is a trade name that describes the services I provide. I work from home, but have a full dedicated, fully equipped treatment room, that is at least as comfortable as any 'centre' treatment room, with a great aspect to the rear of the property. This also means that I work alone, so have no receptionist to let you in if you arrive early.

How much does a treatment cost?

All prices are listed here

Is there a charge for appointment cancellations?

If you need to cancel an appointment, it is appreciated if you give as much notice as possible, so that your appointment slot may be offered to someone else, if needed. Cancellations less than 24 hours before an appointment may be subject to a cancellation fee, which may be some or all of the cost of the treatment booked.

(Please note that a cancellation fee applies because the making of an appointment is reserving the therapist's time and also prohibits other clients booking at the same time or close to it)

Reflexology/Reiki FAQs

What Can You expect at a Reflexology/Reiki treatment?

Both Reflexology and Reiki are unintrusive, relaxing therapies. Only the feet and lower ankles are worked on by the therapist, for Reflexology and I use a mostly non-contact form of Reiki.

Prior to a first treatment I will conduct a health, diet and lifestyle consultation. This usually takes about 10 minutes and is to help establish what your main reason for you seeking treatment is and if there are any reasons why the treatment might not be appropriate for you. All information recorded will be treated in accordance with the Data Protection Act and will remain totally confidential.

Once the consultation is complete, you will get ready for the main treatment.

What should I wear?

It is best to wear loose, comfortable clothes, so that you can relax more easily. For ladies having reflexology, it is advised not to wear short skirts, as the angle of the Lafuma makes it unsuitable to remain fully covered.

Do you use a massage couch or a Lafuma (reclining chair)?

For reflexology I use a Lafuma, as it lends itself very well to reflexology. I use this, not only because they are so comfortable, but also because it can easily be transported for home visits.

For Reiki. I use a massage couch, which is also very comfortable, but allows the client to lie flat, at a height that is comfortable to administer the Reiki.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on the reason for seeking treatment. If it just for stress relief, then one or two treatments may be sufficient, but for most conditions a course of at least 4-6 treatments is recommended.

How long does a Reflexology or Reiki Treatment take?

A full treatment usually lasts around 50 minutes. 60 minute sessions are booked to allow time for updates at the start of follow-on sessions and for having a glass of water and re-booking (if necessary) at the end.

Please note - a first treatment will usually take an extra 10/15 mins, as it will include a medical consultation.

If you book a combination session, ie with Indian Head Massage as well as Reflexology or Reiki, the session will be approximately 75 minutes.

Hypnotherapy FAQs

What Can You expect at a hypnotherapy treatment?

A first session is to establish the background to the issue that the client wants the therapy for and to establish what they want to achieve through having the sessions. As this is a crucial part of the therapy, it may take up to 30 minutes of the first session. The first hypnotic intervention will take the remainder of the first session, with its main purpose being to relax the client and start the process of making lasting changes. The second and third sessions will build on this accordingly

How many treatments will I need?

I usually recommend at least 3 sessions for most conditions, but some may require more. For weightloss, for example, I usually recommend 4 sessions and matters to do with health may require 4 or more, to establish a new pattern of health.

Will I be aware of what is happening during hypnotherapy sessions?

Absolutely. There is no feeling of ‘losing control’ and you will still be aware of your surroundings to an extent during the therapy. A hypnotic state is a slightly altered state of awareness, more akin to
a meditative or daydream state.

How long does a hypnotherapy session take?

Standard sessions are one hour long. However, double sessions of 2 hours length can be arranged on request.

Indian Head Massage FAQs

What Can You expect at an Indian Head Massage treatment?

Prior to a first treatment I will conduct a medical consultation.

Indian Head Massage involves massage techniques to the shoulders, neck, upper back, head, scalp, face and hair. The pressure applied depends on individual tolerances and preferences. It is generally relaxing for the recipient.

The treatment is carried out with the client sitting in an upright chair. The chair I use is comfortable and height adjustable.

What should I wear?

It is best to wear loose, comfortable clothes, so that you can relax more easily. As the treatment involves massage to the upper back and shoulders, it is best not to wear clothes with thick, heavy material, hoods or stiff collars. For men, ties will need to be removed and shirt collar loosened, if appropriate.

Will I get my hair messed up or covered in oil?

Firstly, I do not use oils, unless specifically requested by the client, but if oils are used, then there will obviously be some remaining on the hair following a treatment. If you do require oils, please make appropriate arrangements re appropriate attire and time of appointment.

As the hair is an extention of the central nervous system, I consider it essential to incorporate it into the treatment. Most clients find it a particularly relaxing and soothing part of the treatment. It is, of course, impossible to do an Indian Head Massage without disturbing the hair to some extent, but I always endeavour to leave the hair looking as presentable as possible prior to the client leaving. For the best possible treatment, hair should ideally be clean and free of gels and sprays prior to a treatment.

How long does an Indian Head Massage session take?

Standard sessions are 40 minutes long. This will include a treatment of about 30 minutes in length.
60 minute sessions can also be arranged, including a treatment of around 45/50 minutes.

Shorter Indian Head Massage treatments of around 20 minutes can also be included in combination treatments, with other therapies.

FAQs. Rob Buckle

About Rob Buckle (MAR, AdvDipH, Reiki Master, BA Hons)

I discovered the benefits of natural/holistic health, approximately 9 years ago, in an effort to stem a lifetime migraine issue. My doctor, in his wisdom, advised me to take pain-killers, as there was, apparently, nothing else that could help! I began researching ‘alternative’ health and found

a new world of possibiities. For example, I read that reflexology has been known to help with migraines. I decided to book a course of treatments with a reflexologist who had been recommended to me - and a few short weeks later my life had changed! The migraines almost completely stopped and my energy levels improved no-end! I was so impressed I decided to train as a reflexologist!

Most of my previous career had been spent in teaching (adults mainly), so stress and tension had always been a factor in my life! Since discovering holistic health and natural supplements, however, I was able to control it better. I soon realised that my true passion lay with natural health rather than for teaching and slowly began to make the transition from full-time teacher to full-time natural health practitioner. I am now fully committed on a full-time basis to Solihull Holistic Health - and couldn’t be happier!

I am an ITEC qualified Reflexologist and member of the Association of Reflexologists, a professional organisation that ensures all member Reflexologists are trained to the highest standards and receive a minimum level of continuous professional development.

Soon after qualifying as a Reflexologist, I began training in the wonderful healing art of Reiki. Having trained over a period of 2 years, I became a Reiki Master Teacher, meaning I have reached the highest level of ‘attunement‘ possible in Reiki and can pass on ‘attunements’ to others. I later added Indian Head Massage, which is a great compliment to reflexology and Reiki, but also has proven to be an extremely popular and effective therapy in its own right.

More recently, I trained in Hypnotherapy, as it was clear to me that the mind plays a huge part in the role of health, both physical and mental. This has been a fantastic addition to my skills-set, as I have seen a whole range of people, with all manner of issues, overcome the obstacles that were holding them back, to transform their lives. I have now also completed an Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma, which means I am now one of just a handful of hypnotherapists worldwide who hold such a qualification. This has given me even greater insight into the world of the sub-conscious and more tools to use in my hypnotherapy sessions.

I am always on the look-out for ways to add to my array of skills and natural health knowledge and a recent discovery I have made is the amazing ‘Pain Genie’ or Scenar device, which has now become an invaluable addition to my therapy range. It is a revolutionary new way of treating pain naturally and I have been getting some amazing results with it. See here for more details.
